New York
greets Sisters from St Elisabeth Convent!
As we
continue our work supporting the Boarding Home for children with special needs,
as well as other charitable projects, such as the construction of the rehab
center for female ex-prisoners, we are participating in Christmas markets and
festivals exposing the items made in our monastic workshops run by the Convent.
One of
such annual events is being held from November 28 till December 24, 2018 in New
York on Columbus Circle at 59th Street and Central Park West. We would like to
invite you to come and see our booth!
We will
display traditional handmade souvenirs and religious handicrafts created by the
Sisters and the people that we care for. Icons and crucifixes, wooden painted
souvenirs, Christmas tree decorations, ceramics, embroideries, Russian dolls
and much more: we sincerely believe that these things made with love and prayer
will make great Christmas gifts and bring blessings to their new owners and
also help the poor.
The lay
‘sisters of mercy’ and the nuns of St Elisabeth Convent care for several
orphanages, hospitals, residential care facilities, and a TB clinic, as well as
for two rehabilitation centers for the homeless. There is also a Visiting Nurse
Service operated by the Convent. It aims to provide support for poor and
elderly people.
We look
forward to seeing you at the marketplace!
