A man
came to visit a farmer. The farmer’s relatives told him that the farmer was
busy inspecting buildings in his backyard. The visitor walked around the entire
yard but he couldn’t find the farmer. He asked the daily laborers where the
master of the household was. They advised him to look in the garden. The
visitor walked around the garden but he couldn’t find the farmer, so he decided
to shout the farmer’s name. The farmer immediately called back from the
vineyard and appeared in front of the guest.
“My
friend, I couldn’t find you until you responded to my call,” the visitor said.
“You’ll
never be able to find me if I don’t come to you,” the farmer replied. “If you’d
called my name, I’d have responded immediately
and you wouldn’t have had to look for me.”
